I’ve been doing some reading online about fantasy tropes and cliches. I’ve noticed that there seems to be some standard “rules” to follow if you find yourself the main character in a fantasy story:
1. You instinctively know who the Good Guys are and who the Bad Guys are.
2. When the Good Guys show up and whisk you away, you trust them completely. Wherever they take you, you go along willingly.
3. You never think the Good Guys are actually kidnapping you.
4. When the Wise Good Guy tells you to do something, you do it unquestioningly. If you do ask why, W.G.G. will refuse to give you any info, and you will be quietly obedient.
There’s more. Feel free to leave them in the comments below. Meanwhile, my next story is going to try to bend or break these rules and see what happens.
Siblings discover an artifact that can change the course of an upcoming war, but can’t agree on who to support.
Blurb coming soon…
